Electronic Leak DetectionElectronic leak detection, or vector mapping, is another means of non-destructive testing of waterproof membranes. This practice is a standard in Europe but is rather new to the US market. There are several means by how this is performed. Generally, the test works by having the membrane substrate, such as the roof deck set up as a ground and having the test equipment emit a charge. Any breach in the system would be identified as the current is completed. This process can detect pinholes in membranes. |
